A planet’s fall is a sign of the zodiac in which it is thought to be particularly poorly-placed.
The fall of each planet is located in the sign opposite to the sign of its exaltation.
The signs in which a planet is in its fall are as follows:
- Saturn is in its fall in Aries.
- Jupiter is in its fall in Capricorn.
- Mars is in its fall in Cancer.
- Venus is in its fall in Virgo.
- Mercury is in its fall in Pisces.
- The Sun is in its fall in Libra.
- The Moon is in its fall in Scorpio.
According to the 7th century astrologer Rhetorius of Egypt, the signs of fall are inauspicious placements for the planets because the domicile lord of that sign interacts poorly with the planet that has its fall in the sign.
When a planet is in its fall it is considered to be debilitated.
The original Greek term for “fall” can also be translated as “depression”.
