Astrologers use the term native to refer to the person who owns or is associated with a specific birth chart, within the context of natal astrology. The native is the person who was born at a certain time in a certain place, as depicted by the natal chart.
“Nativity” is an alternate term that is sometimes used to refer to a person’s birth chart or natal chart, and the owner of the nativity is the native.
The term is often used as shorthand for “the person whose birth chart we are talking about in the present discussion.”
The terms native and nativity tend to be used more frequently in older English texts on astrology, although they are still employed from time to time in contemporary discussions as well, especially by astrologers who practice some form of traditional astrology.
